VALLEY OF THE QUEENS
MEDINET HABU
RAMESSEUM

Where Eternal Life Whispers
Through Stone

Journey across Luxor’s western horizon, where the sun sets over a landscape once devoted to eternity. In this sacred ground, the ancient Egyptians built tombs and temples to honor their rulers and gods. At the Valley of the Queens, the beautifully painted tombs of royal women and children reveal stories of devotion and eternal life. Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Ramesses III, stands as one of the West Bank’s most impressive monuments, its walls still showing vivid scenes of battle and ritual. Nearby, the Ramesseum—built by Ramesses II—rises in quiet majesty, its fallen colossi and detailed reliefs preserving the memory of Egypt’s golden age.

Stop 1 — Valley of the Queens
Your standard entry ticket allows access to three beautifully preserved tombs, each revealing exquisite wall art and scenes of divine rebirth created for royal women and children of Egypt’s New Kingdom.

Notable tombs often open to visitors include those of

  • Prince Amenherkhepshef

  • Queen Titi

  • Prince Khaemwaset

Additional optional tomb available for visit

  • Queen Nefertari
One of the most celebrated tombs in Egypt. Its vividly preserved wall paintings, delicate color palette, and poetic religious texts present the queen’s journey through the afterlife with exceptional clarity and grace, making it a benchmark of New Kingdom funerary art.

Stop 2 — Medinet Habu
One of the most impressive and best-preserved temples on Luxor’s West Bank. Originally founded by King Seti I and completed by Ramses III, it served as both a mortuary temple and an administrative center. Walk through towering pylons covered with vivid battle scenes, admire the rich colors still visible today, and feel the aura of the great pharaoh’s power that endures within these ancient walls.

Stop 3 — The Ramesseum
Built by Ramses II, this mortuary temple stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy and grandeur. Though partly in ruins, the Ramesseum remains one of Egypt’s most atmospheric temples, with colossal statues and reliefs depicting the pharaoh’s military triumphs and divine associations. Its massive fallen colossus, once over 17 meters high, inspired the famous poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
